Oliver's Labels off for Canada Day Long Weekend

Oliver's Labels will be out of the office from Thursday, June 28 to Tuesday July 3 for the Canada Day Long weekend. We will still be taking orders online and production time will not be affected. However, there will be no Express or Priority delivery service available during this time.

Update regarding Thursday's post about Paypal

I just wanted to let you know a quick update regarding the last post about Paypal charging your American Express in US currency even if you have a Canadian account and you're shopping in Canadian dollars at oliverslabels.com....

I received an email this morning from Lindsey at Paypal saying:
"due to American Express and Discover guidelines, these cards can only be charged in U.S. denomination. Visa and MasterCard offer different currencies."
So, even though I was told on the phone that this only happens with American Express, apparently it also applies to Discover card users too.

I hope this information is helpful to my fellow Canadians. When choosing to pay with a credit card, Visa and MasterCard are the way to go!

Canadian customers paying with American Express

We recently got a call from a Canadian customer asking why the charge on her American Express statement was slightly different from her purchase amount (within a dollar). After confirming that the problem was not on our website, we quickly contacted Paypal, the company we use to facilitate all of our online financial transactions. To our surprise, Paypal told us that this issue is unique to using American Express. When someone uses their American Express card, Paypal automatically charges it in US dollars no matter what currency you’re shopping in. In other words, Paypal converts the total Canadian dollars of your Oliver's Labels purchase to American dollars, charges your American Express card and then American Express converts it back to Canadian dollars! With all that converting back and forth, the resulting total is bound to be slightly different. We at Oliver's Labels disagree with this procedure but unfortunately we are powerless to change it. Most of all, we are disappointed that Paypal does not inform you that they are doing it when you’re checking out.

We do not feel that this Paypal procedure fits with Oliver's Labels high standards for customer service for our Canadian customers so we will be researching reputable alternative companies to use for your secure online payments. Our priority is to provide all of our customers with top-quality service, and that includes the companies that we associate with!

If you're a Canadian customer and would like to avoid this problem, just use your Visa or another payment method available to you when checking out. If you decide to use your American Express, now you know what to expect to see on your statement. We have also added a note on our Checkout Details page for those customers who do not read our blog.
I know, I also can't believe there are people who don't read our blog! :)

More than anything my son was excited about seeing the Dinosaurs. he loved the look and I loved how practical and durable everything was. Once I put them on his things, he was showing all the kids in his JK class what he had and of course the kids than told their moms and than the moms asked me. Great product and incredibly useful. I would love these labels for everything in my house.

Great Product. Every Mom needs these labels for all of thier children's things. I can not tell you how many times my daughters shoes, hats and lunch box were mistakenly taken form one of thier school mates. Website additions to oliverslabels.com

Today we had all of our contact information put on every page of our website. Now instead of having to go to the About Us page and then click on the Contact Information link, all you have to do is look at the bottom of the page and you'll see:

Introduction of Rushed shipping options for Oliver's Labels

As it gets closer to the first day of camp, we notice that there are an increased number of people who need their labels "right away!" I'm not surprized that this is happening. Being a parent means multi-tasking and needing to think of about 1,000,000 things at any one time so there are bound to be details that slip through the cracks. No problem. We've found two new and very good options that we can make available to our customers.

First let me start off by saying that when we get an order, it only takes about 1-4 days for production. We then ship it out using our Regular service... but now we will make "Express" and "Priority" services available too. Here are the details...

Regular delivery service (default):
Canada: only $1.50 (production time + 3-5 bus. days)
USA: only $3.00 (production time + 5-10 bus. days)
This is the current service we use for all orders unless otherwise specified. It is both inexpensive and reliable.

New option #1 - Express Delivery service:
Canada: $15 (rushed production time + 1-2 bus. days, click here for your area)
USA: $16 (rushed production time + 3-5 bus. days, click here for your area)

New option#2 - Priority Delivery service:
Canada: $28 (rushed production time + next bus. day by 10:30am)
USA: $44 (rushed production time + next bus. day by 10:30am)

For now these options will only be available by request until we add it to the website. There are a few ways to tell us that you want Express or Priority service... after ordering you can
1) include a "message to the seller" when checking out in Paypal,
2) email us at info@oliverslabels.com or
3) call us at 1-800-398-2060.
We will simply send an invoice to your email address with the balance after subtracting the shipping you've already paid.

I hope these new options will answer our customers needs. We continue to look for ways to improve our customers' experience with Oliver's Labels. Now, hopefully, even if you've waited till the last minute, you'll still be able to label and tag your kids' stuff!
